About
Klobuchar was born in 1960 in Plymouth, Minnesota. She is the daughter of an elementary school teacher and an author. Klobuchar was valedictorian of her high school, and after graduating, she attended Yale to earn bachelors in political science and then attended the University of Minnesota Law School where she received her J.D. In 2006 she was first elected into the senate and reelected in 2012 and 2018.

Klobuchar focuses her campaign on lowering prescription drug prices and addressing the issue of drug addiction.On the Issues
- Climate Change
Klobuchar supports rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement and reducing greenhouse emissions. She advocates climate change is an issue happening now and thus is must be addressed now.
- Healthcare
Klobuchar supports universal healthcare but not has explicitly supported Medicare for all. She aims to support ages 55 and above in Medicare.
- Abortion
Klobuchar wants to make abortions safe and does not believe that the government has a right to dictate a women’s right.
- Social Security
Klobuchar does not want to raise the retirement age and believes that privatization can create risks.
- Education
Opposed to most democratic contenders running in the 2020 election, Klobuchar does not advocate for free four year college. Instead, she states that community college could be free to allow people to acquire degrees that enable them to get into jobs that do not require a 4 year degree.
- Gun Control
Klobuchar supports banning assault weapons and universal background checks. She also aims to close loopholes in the gun buying process.
- Immigration
Klobuchar does not want to abolish ICE but does aim to allow more legal immigration through work visas.
- Taxes
Klobuchar wants to increase tax cuts for those earning less than $250,000 yearly. She also aims to limit tax cuts for the upper 1% to help pay for the budget deficit.
- Criminal Justice
Klobuchar supports the First Step Act.
- LGBTQ Rights
Klobuchar feels that discrimination towards the LGBTQ community harms both personal and economic prosperity.
- Foreign Policy
Klobuchar voted in favor of legislation that rebuked Trump removing troops from Syria; this legislation was voted against by all other democrats running for president in the 2020 election.
