John Delaney was born in 1963 in Wood- Ridge, New Jersey and was raised as a Catholic. He attended a Catholic high school and continued his education at Columbia University, receiving his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Delaney is a winner of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and helped found two companies. In 2012, Delaney won the election and became a member of the US House of Representatives for Maryland District 6. He held this position until 2019.

Delaney supports the positive reforms that have been happening within the criminal justice system such as pardoning Cyntoia and allowing ex-felons to vote in Florida.
- LGBTQ Rights
Delaney has voted in support of anti-discrimination laws towards the LGBTQ community.
- Foreign Policy
Although he has not spoken about removing troops from Syria, Delaney holds the Saudi crown Prince accountable for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.
