About
John Hickenlooper was born in 1952 in Narberth, Pennsylvania and raised by his mother after his father’s death early in his childhood. Hickenlooper went to Haverford School and continued on to get his bachelors in English and masters in geology from Wesleyan University. He later worked as a geologist for Buckhorn Petroleum and after being laid off created Wynkoop brewing Company with 5 other partners. Throughout the time owning the brewery chain, Hickenlooper became involved in the community; this involvement helped him pursue his political career. In the 2003 and 2007 elections, Hickenlooper ran and won to become the mayor of Denver and from 2011- January 2019 he served as the governor of Colorado.

Hickenlooper has supported increasing gun control. Part of his proposal includes limiting high-capacity magazines and universal background checks.

Hickenlooper believes that Trump’s immigration policy is un-American and he does not support the separation of families at the border.
