Joe Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania but after 10 years moved to Delaware. Biden‘s father had been wealthy but had lost their fortune by the time Biden was born. Biden earned his bachelors at the University of Delaware, graduating near the bottom of his class. He became a lawyer in 1969 and was elected to the city council in 1970 and into the US senate in 1962. In 1972, Biden’s wife and infant daughter were killed in an automobile accident and before the 2016 election; Biden lost his son, Beau, to a brain tumor. He was reelected to the senate six times until serving as the vice president for Barack Obama. He has run for presidency three times and claims that this is his last time.

- Climate Change
Opposed to Biden’s former animosity on his views for climate change, he recently proposed an aggressive plan to create 100% clean energy and better efficiency.
- Healthcare
Biden supports the Affordable Care Act.
- Abortion
Whereas Biden was previously skeptical on the power given solely to women concerning abortions in the beginning of his career, he now advocates that the government does not have the right to control what a woman does with her body.
- Social Security
Biden stands more central with issues relating to social security. He opposes privatization and supports removing the income tax cap. Biden is willing to consider increasing the retirement age.
- Education
Biden supports creating free four year public colleges and community colleges.
- Gun Control
Although Biden has had a past history of supporting legislation that protects gun owners, he had legislation passed that temporarily banned assault weapons and he advocates for expanding background checks.
- Immigration
Biden supports making the immigration process easier as he says that is part of the American history and lifestyle. He is reported saying that “undocumented aliens are already Americans.”
- Taxes
Biden aims to support the middle and lower classes. He was to increase taxes on the rich and favors unions and worker protections.
- Criminal Justice
Biden has had a mixed political history towards the criminal justice system. In the 1980’s and 1990’s Biden was known for his harsh legislation and specifically harsh drug punishments. Although in the past decade, Biden has altered; he now supports removing mandatory sentences and reducing the racial discrepancy that has been created in the criminal justice system.
- LGBTQ Rights
Biden strongly supports the Equality Act and advocates the necessity for creating and maintaining equality in the United States.
- Foreign Policy
Biden has past support for the war in Iraq but has been known to criticize Trump’s approach to foreign policy.
