About
Marianne Williamson was born July 8, 1952 as the youngest of three in a Jewish family. She attended Houston ISD’s Bellaire High School before studying theatre and philosophy at Pomona College in Claremont, California for two years. Her college career ended early after she dropped out and moved to New York with inspirations of becoming a cabaret singer. She later moved back to Houston and then to California where she ran a bookstore and coffee shop along with teaching the book A Course in Miracles; from this book she has adopted many fringe beliefs. She continued on to write and publish 13 of her own pieces. In 2014, Williamson ran as an Independent for the US House of Representatives but did not win.

Williamson focuses on improving slavery reparations and increasing funding for economic and educational projects.On the Issues
- Climate Change
Williamson aims to increase investments in clean energy, eliminate fossil fuels/fracking/nuclear energy, and fund the production of electric vehicles. She also stresses that climate change is an issue that must be addressed now otherwise it will cause irreparable damage.
- Healthcare
Williamson promotes universal healthcare and Medicare. She aims to create broader coverage and have schools start teaching nutrition and healthy life style skills starting as young as pre-kindergarten.
- Abortion
Williamson is strongly pro-choice and believes that it is not a government issue but rather a moral one.
- Social Security
Williamson argues that the risks to social security should be nonexistent and that the issues can be solved with slight modifications.
- Education
Williamson promotes universal healthcare and aims to have federal compensation for state school funding. She aims to create teacher training programs and to help increase teacher retention. Williamson also supports free public college and/or technical school for every qualified student along with loan forgiveness.
- Gun Control
Williamson believes that the gun control battle excessively revolves around the profit of gun manufacturers. She supports eliminating assault weapons and requiring universal background checks. She also aims to implement the “Passage of Extreme Risk Protection Order Laws” which would be able to temporarily confiscate a person’s right to own a gun if it possess a risk to themselves or others.
- Immigration
Williamson aims to overturn the three year and ten year bars. She also supports the dreamers and aims to speed up the process of allowing asylum seekers access into the country. She believes that the constitution applies to everyone including undocumented immigrants.
- Taxes
Williamson has released no strong stance on taxes.
- Criminal Justice
Williamson wants to increase resources for “at-risk” children and argues that poverty and hunger must be addressed in order to reform the system. She also advocates that “restorative justice” would benefit communities after a tragedy as it would help heal the victims along with giving the prosecuted a second chance.
- LGBTQ Rights
Williamson aims to increase protections against discrimination of the LGBTQ community and supports the equality act.
- Foreign Policy
Williamson states that the country must re-examine its foreign relationships.
